EDDHA chelated iron is one of the most widely used fertilisers in agriculture to prevent and cure iron chlorosis, i.e. iron deficiency in plants.
It provides stable, easily absorbed iron, even in calcareous or alkaline soils, improving colour, growth and crop yield.

FERPLUS 4.8 contains [o,o] EDDHA, the most stable form, available even in calcareous soils or soils with a high pH. It prevents and corrects iron chlorosis, keeping the iron available for weeks.
Having iron available in the soil improves the plant's photosynthesis, cellular respiration and vitality, as it acts on the production of chlorophyll and plant enzymes. With FERPLUS 4.8, you will always have green leaves, even when iron chlorosis has already appeared; after using it the plant will start growing again, increasing the quality of fruit and vegetables. The effects will be visible within a few days of application.
FERPLUS 4.8 is ideal for calcareous or alkaline soils, or soils irrigated with hard water, where other chelates (EDTA, DTPA) lose effectiveness. Perfect for preventing and curing seasonal chlorosis.
Composition: Contains 6.0% water-soluble iron (Fe), of which 4.8% is chelated with [o,o] EDDHA. This ortho-ortho form is the most stable and effective even in soils with a high pH, and ensures iron availability over the long term.
Benefits for the plant: Restores chlorophyll production, encourages more vigorous and uniform growth, increases yield and fruit quality, and also has a preventive effect when applied regularly. Greener leaves and improved photosynthesis, more vigorous growth, higher yield and fruit quality. Essential support for plants stressed by iron deficiency.
Recommended crops: FERPLUS 4.8 is suitable for citrus, vines, fruit trees, vegetables and ornamentals. Also excellent for yellowing lawns or plants grown in iron-poor soils. Ideal for citrus, vines, fruit trees (apple, pear, peach, kiwi), vegetables (tomato, lettuce, legumes) and ornamentals prone to iron chlorosis. Can also be used on turf and yellowing lawns.
Directions for use: Apply in spring, at transplanting or when symptoms appear. Dissolve in water and distribute at the base of the plant or through fertigation. If a quick intervention is needed it can also be used as a foliar application. The effect of EDDHA lasts 2–3 months and you will see results after just 5–10 days. It can be repeated during the season to keep iron available in the soil.
Indicative doses: Orchards and vines about 125/250ml of solution per 10m² of soil, vegetables 40/125ml of solution per 10m² of soil, flowers and turf about 40/150ml of solution per 10m² of soil.

The effect of the [o,o] EDDHA iron chelate lasts 6–8 weeks, even in highly calcareous soils or soils with a high pH. It keeps iron stable and available in the soil for longer than other chelates such as EDTA or DTPA.
Yes, FERPLUS 4.8 contains iron chelated in [o,o] EDDHA form, the most stable form and immediately available to the roots. It is easily absorbed even by plants grown in calcareous or alkaline soils or irrigated with hard water.
FERPLUS 4.8 is ideal for application by fertigation: it dissolves in water and is delivered directly to the roots. It is compatible with drip irrigation, sprinkler irrigation and automatic systems.
No, quite the opposite. FERPLUS 4.8 should be dissolved in water and applied to the soil, followed by normal irrigation to help it penetrate towards the root system. Water does not shorten the duration of the chelate.
Yes. The analyses report the residual levels of the FERPLUS 4.8 product. The corrective action comes exclusively from the [o,o] EDDHA chelated iron, which remains stable even in difficult conditions.
The [o,o] EDDHA iron chelate is permitted under organic farming standards as a corrector for iron chlorosis. FERPLUS 4.8 meets the requirements for use in organic farming.
No additional treatment is needed. After application and normal irrigation, FERPLUS 4.8 remains active for 6–8 weeks. For very chlorotic plants, a foliar treatment can be added for faster action.
Yes, the product can be used in organic farming as a corrector of deficiencies. It is a specific iron chelate permitted under European standards and compliant with the required specifications.
The recommended doses are:
– Orchards and vines: 125–250 ml of solution per 10 m²
– Vegetables: 40–125 ml of solution per 10 m²
– Flowers and turf: 40–150 ml of solution per 10 m²
The solution is made up of 100–120 g of product dissolved in 1 litre of water.
You can apply it twice:
– as a foliar application for a faster effect (5–10 days)
– to the soil for a lasting effect
The two methods are complementary and do not carry any risk of overdosing.
It is especially recommended in the case of:
– calcareous or alkaline soils (pH > 7)
– irrigation with hard water
– compacted or poorly aerated soils
– iron chlorosis that is already visible
In these cases the iron present in the soil is not available to the plant: FERPLUS 4.8 solves the problem by making it assimilable.
– Fruit trees: citrus, apple, pear, peach, kiwi, cherry, vine
– Vegetables: tomato, pepper, aubergine, lettuce, spinach, legumes, potato, courgette
– Flowers and ornamentals: roses, hydrangeas, rhododendrons, camellias, azaleas
– Meadows and turf
The leaves turn green again within 5–10 days. Plant growth and vigour improve over the following weeks thanks to the stability of the EDDHA.
Iron is an essential micronutrient, fundamental for chlorophyll synthesis, cellular respiration e photosynthesis; as well as for the activity of many plant enzymes.
When iron is lacking, plants show:
• yellow young leaves with veins that are still green
• slowed growth
• small or poorly coloured fruit
[o,o] EDDHA chelated iron is never harmful: even in soils already rich in iron, an additional supply gives plants the availability they need for their physiological functions.
There are some cases where it is more useful:
• In calcareous soils or with a high pH (>7)
• In areas with hard irrigation water or water rich in bicarbonates
• Compact or poorly aerated soils
• In case of chlorosis that has already appeared
In these cases the soil’s “natural” iron is present… but it is not available to the plant. EDDHA is there precisely to make it assimilable.
Chelated iron is very versatile, but it is used above all
on crops sensitive to iron chlorosis, such as:
| Citrus | Kiwi |
| Apple | Pear |
| Peach | Apricot |
| Plum | Strawberry |
| Vine | Cherry |

A practical guide to how, when and why to use EDDHA iron.
Iron chelated with EDDHA is most effective when the plant is in an active growth phase and forming new leaves.
The ideal moments:
• early spring → vegetative restart
• after transplanting → to avoid stress and nutritional blockages
• when the first symptoms appear → yellow young leaves with veins that are still green
On the soil: spread by hand around the base of the plants, then watered generously. This is the method with the longest and most stable effect.
Through fertigation: dissolved in water and delivered directly through the irrigation system: the most practical method in greenhouses and drip systems.
By foliar application: useful as a quick intervention, to combine with the soil treatment. It speeds up absorption.
EDDHA is the most stable form of iron: it holds up even in highly alkaline soils, where other chelates break down.
• fast effect → improvements are visible after just 5–10 days
• long duration → up to 6–8 weeks (in the soil)
• the plant gains vigour, stem and root system → new leaves regain their deep green
Below is the technical explanation of the product name; in detail, it shows why
it is a highly innovative and efficient fertiliser for most crops.
